Beauty Blogger I’m not, but I am a Mummy Blogger who approx. 3 days out of 7 has to pull a rabbit out of her hat and look like she’s had enough sleep, like she’s eating a la Julia & Libby and working out like Makaia.  HA!

Spanx can take care of some of those things, for the rest I’ve perfected a little makeup routine that can be built on depending upon the occasion.  I’ve learnt so much about what I can and can’t do with makeup (must not ever attempt eyeliner, winged eyeliner, eye shadow, lip lining……) over the past 12 months plus, I’ve begun to really enjoy getting the ol’ face semi-presentable on those days when I do have to see a real person, who isn’t a child or my husband.

As such, I’ve finally figured out how to whip up a quick look which is totally Mummy appropriate and looks good.

I think.

Summer Makeup: 7 minutes, 7 products + eyelash curler, small blending brush.  Easy.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water $62 + Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water SPF30 $75

New Zealand's Top Mummy Blogger Blog beautyNew Zealand's Top Mummy Blogger Blog beautyOn it’s own, I found the BB Water quite hard to use.  It’s surprisingly hard to spread evenly for a product with ‘water’ in its name.  Applied after a full-face spritz of Primer Water (which I’ve reviewed here) and we’re in business baby.  I LOVE it!  It provides such light, even coverage and makes my tired skin look younger and fresh whilst avoiding a heavy, foundation-based visage.  Win.  It’s also SPF30!!!!  So basically a year round must-have in you make-up kit.

Mum, tired, post 35 = dark circles.

This super-hydrating magic bullet is my fave under-eye concealer.  The actual concealer is surrounded by a ring of hydrating deliciousness (some magic made from apple seed and Vitamin E) which prevents those papery creases synonymous with us old gals.  Would I purchase again?  Hell yes.  For added staying power, brush your fave pressed powder over the top.

Estee Lauder Little Black Primer $50New Zealand's Top Mummy Blogger Blog beauty

Here’s another product to which I took a while to warm to but now I freaking LOVE.  The wand is amazing with a freaky curve that separates and defines like no other.  I’m not going to lie, I see a LOT of IG posts of girls showing off their long, long…….clumped awful looking lashes.  Can’t do it.  I like cleanly separated lashes, with length and curl.  The whole shebang in other words.  I’m wearing this on it’s own as mascara at the moment and my lashes look SO long and curly.  No smudgy panda eyes either!

New Zealand's Top Mummy Blogger Blog beautyNARS Orgasm Illuminator $48

This is my second NARS Orgasm product and I love it as much as the cult-classic blush.  I wear this illuminator every single time I apply makeup.  The.  End.

Ok maybe not.  As there is more to say about how glowy and dewy this creamy product makes my skin.  I apply it from the apples of my cheeks, sweeping up and out to my hairline.  Instant bronze glow with uplifting highlights.  I also pop a wee dab on my chin and in an upside down triangle shape between my eyebrows.

Karen Murrell Cordovan Natural Lipstick $30New Zealand's Top Mummy Blogger Blog beauty

Summer days mean natural shades and this gorgeous lippy is one of the best.  It seems to translates a bit more rosy in photos than it actually is, but with my olive skin tone, the brown hues shine through for a deep nude finish.
