Project 365

Project 365 * Day 17: Rainbow Shark

Rainbow Shark

It may appear to be celebrating the diversity of gay sharks, but this picture Ethan coloured today is pretty big news in the Jack house.  Ethan doesn’t ‘do’ arty creative colouring like this.  He is a man of science, and prior to this sharks have always been grey, he has also never taken creative licence and drawn teeth on a picture that didn’t already have teeth, because they wouldn’t be just perfect.  I love this picture so much because he stopped worry about everything he knows about sharks and just decided to make something look ‘funky’ –  that’s what he kept saying,  ‘Mama, does my shark look funky?’ .  Damn right it does precious.

Project 365 * Day 12: Make-up Application 101

It was very quiet in the house, never a good sign when both Bush and Ethan are home. They were busy, doing their make-up. Ethan declaring that he has NEVER done this before (well, actually son you did do it when you were 2. Don’t you remember? You carved deep cavernous hollows into my Chanel compact and made momma cry for about 3 days, you had fun then too). The only reservation he had was mascara application. He told Bush he didn’t want to put that black stuff on again as it didn’t feel good on his lips. Thank god for that small miracle I guess.

Project 365 * Day 10: Baking with Bananas

We got a mountain of overripe bananas at the orchard for $2.99 – 2 loaves of banana bread and a dozen muffins and still more bananas left!

Banana Loaf – Edmond’s Cook Book, this recipe is SO easy & quick, which is good because I will probably be repeating it about 3 more times today!

Ingredients
1 3/4 cups self raising flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
75 g butter, melted
1 cup mashed banana (approximately 2 bananas)
Directions
1 Sift flour, baking soda and salt into a bowl.
2 Mix in sugar.
3 In another bowl beat eggs.
4 Stir in milk, butter and banana.
5 Mix quickly into dry ingredients, stirring until ingredients are just combined.
6 Spoon into a greased and lined 22cm loaf tin.
7 Bake at 180C (350F) for 45-55 minutes.
8 Leave in tin for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack.

Project 365 * Day 8:Dave comes home!……… with bourbon!

OK so we all know by now that MELISSA & ETHAN ARE SICK, I know I feel sorry for me too. But the week of lonely Jacks just ended and Dave is back. Everything is as it should be, the filthy-farm-shi-tzu is sleeping on the leather couch, Ethan can’t take his eyes off his Daddy and there is a mountain of laundry waiting for me. Drink up sisters, Daddy’s home!

Project 365 * Day 6: Winter Hands

It’s sunny, but it’s freezing, Ethan doesn’t mind the chilly temps but still has to be reminded to keep warm. His hobo gloves are perfect as they keep my mind at ease and let him throw stones and dig in the dirt unhindered. Everybody’s happy.

Project 365 * Day 5: My Prison!

This has been my outlook for the past 48hrs, confined to my chair as I knock out a riveting commercial law assignment – almost there now!
Essential items for any of my marathon study sessions have been pointed out for you;
– Heater. The office must be hot, hot, hot. I cannot bear to be cold and seem to freeze when I am studying.
– Blanket. See above, I always need back-up.
– Coke Zero. Yes, I am afflicted by the disease of being non-coffee drinker. Don’t hate, I need caffeine just like the rest of you!
– Legislation. Yawn.
– Snack bowl. Unfortunately I constantly eat when I am studying. Just polished off some leftovers that I made into a chicken taco sandwich. Yum!

So anywho, deadline is 5pm and the case law just won’t wait.

Project 365 * Day 4: Playhouse

We finally climbed up for a look today – so excited! It’s warm and dry in there, we just have to clean out all of the old junk and clean up what we want to salvage, 6 new decking planks and Ethan will be set!
