A Girls Guide to Mac’s Cider Pairing

Mac's Cider New Zealand blog Mummy Kids

Bucking the trend that has seen sickly sweet ciders flood the market recently (if I never taste another Strawberry Lime Cider it will be too soon!), Mac’s have taken inspiration from their brewing roots and brought to market four stunning wee drops that will easily find favour with palettes of all persuasions.  I love drinks that have a varietal for all occasions, I think this is why many of us gravitate towards wine.  Cider can also produce flavours as varied and complex as other brews and ferments, you may just have to step out of your comfort zone to experience them! Food and beverage pairing is difficult to get right and even more difficult to remember – for me at least!  With their crafted ciders, Mac’s offer four stunning new flavours that won’t be forgotten; Cloudy Apple, Cranberry & Ginger, Blood Orange & Cardamom and Chilli & Lime.  To make things a little easier for those of us who struggle with the complexities of menu planning, I’ve put together some handy infographics to ensure you always get your cider pairing just right!  Take special note of the flavour scale which is now on all Mac’s beers and ciders, a #1 on the scale will offer refreshment and quenching relief while a #7 will leave you wanting to take your time and savour the intense flavour experience on offer. This range brings innovation and a modern twist on classic cider while remaining true to the tart apple base which remains present throughout the range.  Whether you’re a gumboot girl or a city babe there is something for everyone here, but you simply must try the Chilli & Lime.  Get over the seemingly bizarre concept of a chilli cider and prepared to be wowed.  This one’s a keeper for sure!

Enjoy!

Shop |New Season Winter Jeans from Kmart

Fashion blogger nz DenimBlack on black on black.

I’ve always wanted a pair of black jeans but the shore girl in me resisted for far too long. HA!  Shore girl no more……

We all know Kmart have totally upped their game in the homeware department but what’s happening on the racks?  Kmart asked me to head in for a bit of a shop and it turns out the denim is kinda their jam!  I found heaps of designs, styles, shapes, colours and sizes and ALL are under $25!  I have never actually gone jean shopping before and headed to the changing rooms with so many potential options.  Turns out there was only one pair calling my name, and that was the Womens Mid-Rise Skinny.  In black.

I’m in love with these jeans.  They are soft, stretchy and they cover my bum – all the way up!  I can’t believe I’ve never worn black jeans before, these are definitely going to be on high rotation as we head from Autumn to winter and can so easily be dressed up or down – though this look with my Nike Roshe fully ticks all the boxes for me!

Daily Look | #shelfie

I have THAT child.  The one that is obsessed with getting his mitts on anything that cost more than a cup of coffee and may be potentially fragile and expensive to fix.  My DSLR has just returned from a holiday at Canon HQ and now needs to be kept up high.  A string shelf phaff was obviously in order!

What I Wore | Jeans, Leggings, Boots

The weather in Aucks {and the rest of New Zealand} has been totally shit lately. Super cold, windy enough to blow one of our huge palms over and rainy rainy rainy. Hate. Every time I wear these boots I think “this HAS to be the last time I wear these guys in 2012”. But they always pop out of the closet for one last cameo.  What’s weird about this outfit is that the night after I wore it, I was flicking through my Pinterest Boards when I came across this pin – obviously the outfit had been filed in my subconscious for future inspiration!

I was also inspired by Kelly’s Preppy outfit post last week – loving this style, it’s very ‘me’…….somedays lol.

This outfit was definitely warm and cosy but I STILL had to layer up with my pea coat before we went out to dinner!  Brrrrrr.

What I Wore | Jeans and Sandals

I am just itching to get into summer clothes, or at the very least some springy outfits but the weather is just not co-operating.  I am loving cuffed skinny jeans at the moment, at least I can wear some summery shoes and keep my layers and merino up top!

Be sure to visit Miriam who hosts Wardrobe Wednesday…..and Kelly who is one of my new fave fashion bloggers from right here in NZ!  Yah kiwi.

What I Wore | High Low Skirt

This outfit consists of three pretty basic staples; my ancient denim jacket, a black satin cowl neck blouse and a neutral skirt. What pulled it together were the accessories. I have been trying to pay more attention to my jewellery, scarves and shoes as they can dress up {or down} an outfit and allow me to wear wardrobe basics many different ways. Versatility is definitely Mummy’s little helper!
I finally got my awful hair taken care of in the afternoon, we tried something different and included a semi-permanent all over and in-between the 137 foils! {Yes I have a tonne of hair}.

PS.  If anyone is feeling charitable (ie PLEASE HELP!), I have been extra brave and made my first vlog as an entry in a Shopping Blogger contest.  You can view my entry here

If you would be so kind as to take a moment, register on the Women’s Weekly website and then leave a comment under my entry it would help me win! Thanks x

What I Wore | Spring Layers

Before I left the house I had to put a jacket on.  It’s that kind of weather, changing every five minutes and messing up my hair.  BTW, I am actually counting down the minutes until my hair appointment tomorrow afternoon, my roots are hideous.

Anywho, back to why we’re here.  I like this outfit, it’s warm, colourful and comfy and as promised I have worn some different shoes!  The bag was an un-expected little splurge.  I admired it at full price and the next time I visited it was on sale!  Hoo-ray.

By the way, I LOVE Wardrobe Wednesday.  It really makes me get a little more inventive with how I dress, plus, a little more forgiving of myself when it comes to my own self-image.  It gets easier each week and I’m definitely becoming less self-conscious about sharing what I wear to you three avid readers!  Thanks Miriam!
