Nate must have been dredging his archives because he came up with his blog from 2001, and look at young me! I was 22! Wow. On the eve of my thirtieth birthday it is nice to be reminded of how long I have known Nate and …
I will be officially old at the end of the month. No longer happily skipping along in my twenties I will soon turn 30. It’s quite a corner turned really, as you enter your twenties without a care in the world, a free agent, a completely selfish and self-absorbed person who has nothing to tie you down. You want to disappear in the states for six years? Why not? Hell, it’s not like you’ve got much else going on right? My twenties were certainly a fantastic collection of ten loosely connected years, very memorable adventures and my marriage to Dave and the birth of Ethan when I was 25. So in complete opposition to my twentieth birthday, I will celebrate my thirtieth as a cute acronym – SAHM, coupled with PART TIME STUDENT and WIFE. I have more wrinkles, grey hairs, fat, hang-ups and medications than I did ten years ago, but I also am home in New Zealand with my awesome family, great friends and fantastic husband to celebrate my thirtieth with.
So. Onto the presents. This is my wishlist, the things that might help distract me from my self-pity for just a second or two ; ), of course I am under no illusion about getting them, it is a recession after all!
This cook book is awesome, I have perused it at a friends house and am in love with so many of the recipes all ready.

My skin sucks. It really does. So I am craving a Core Treatment facial from dermologica Albany. $100
Karen Walker Bow PendantWalker & Hall $266

I have wanted one of these for so long, ever since I worked at The Madd Potter with Connie.
Here I am playing blog games with Julz again; 1. I don’t own a clothes dryer, that’s what the sun is for 2. I listen to the same play list everyday when I run, it NEVER changes 3. I don’t wash the dishes unless there …
One of my favourite shopping sites 1-day deals launched a new site today called 1-day tees offering short run t-shirts in cool designs. As part of the launch they gave away 200 FREE tees to the first lot of F5/refresh master-punters. I got two of course, one …
a trip to the barber this morning. Dave has gone fishing so I am all alone…..with Ethan…..who thinks The Barber is going to hurt him. It has to be done though. It wasn’t intentional but my boy is sporting a rather convincing bowl cut. I didn’t actually put a bowl on his head and cut around it persay, but I can’t remember the last time he had a hair-cut and I have been trimming just the edges for a few months now so it’s looking real fancy.
On a different note, I think the transition from blogger to WP is just about done and I have to say I love it. Good on ya Julzy for initiating the change (you know I just can’t stand to be left behind!). It’s nice to have my own domain name finally, though WP is not cloaking the redirect yet, I hope it will.

Good Thing: I finally after 6 months bought a new laptop battery online yesterday and it arrived this morning, I was VERY excited.Bad Thing: Stupid thing doesn’t charge and the company is making ME pay to send it back under warranty! Good Thing: I went …
Today was one of those days where you want to get your washing on the line as early as possible because you just know it’s going to dry so fast (at least you do if you live in New Zealand!), it was a stunning sunny, hot autumn day – NO humidity. After Ethan and I walked home from kindy we packed a picnic, a bug catcher, soccer ball and our towels and headed down to the beach.
We ate lunch and kicked the ball around in the park for a couple of hours and then went for a swim when we were good and hot. The water was so warm still, there was fun little waves for Ethan, who taught himself how to bodysurf. He has been such a good boy this week. We bought him a new wall chart in the weekend with numbers to 100 and he can read them and and cycle though perfectly. I am so proud of him. He had a sweet swimming lesson yesterday, his freestyle stroke is looking so strong, his shoulders are actually rolling out of the water now and he is fast. It is amazing watching him learn all of these different things and excel at each of them. No Louie today, he has gone to the farm to burn off some fat with Mollie and Marley, he should be suitably tired tomorrow when I pick him up!
Over summer this year one of my classes was a 2nd year writing paper which was a lovely escape from from the fanantically exacting bean-counting papers I normally have to take. I got an A in the paper and thought I would share some of …
